Sedona AZ - Our monsoon officially starts on June 15th and ends on September 30th. During the monsoon, there is a weather pattern shift. Our normal weather pattern comes from the north and carries much colder air generally.Summer Months
During the summer months, the weather patterns come from the southwest or southeast and bring warm moist air that drops a lot of the rain we get for the year. Monsoon 2016
Monsoon started shortly after the official date of June 15th and our last storm rolled up from the south yesterday. We are still showing show southern moisture in the air currently, so there could be a storm in northern and eastern Arizona. Sedona gets a high percentage of rain in July, August, and September. Normally, June is a pretty dry month. From 2010 to 2014, there was only .01 of an inch total. During the actual monsoon 2016, Sedona got 10.16 inches of rain. The total rainfall for 2016 has been 15.83 inches which means that those 10 inches are 2/3 of the total rainfall. In 2015 it was only 7.33 inches of rain about 1/3 of the total for the year.
