An Iconic Don Woods Classic Design

Don Woods was a resident in Sedona from circa 1969 until his passing. He was a premier architect and has designed well over 200 homes in our local area and several commercial buildings, including Junipine Resort, Heartline Café, and Sedona Racquet Club. Signature elements in his designs are the use of glass with floor to ceiling windows. Cathedral/vaulted beamed ceilings with outdoor overhangs. This brings the outdoors inside.  Since the 1980’s his vision and open floor plans with the fireplace as a focal point of the room have been well received.  When I walk into a Don Woods designed home, I recognize his work immediately.

I spoke to Don Woods in 2017, and he told me that the Cottages At Coffeepot were one of his favorite projects throughout his career. He designed that entire community with Phil Morris as the builder.
