Crimson View – A Sub-division of West Sedona Arizona 86336
If you travel north from State Route (SR) 89A onto Rodeo Road and start heading up the hill, you will reach Crimson View, Western Hills sub-divisions along with Cedar Ridge, Sedona Arizona. What you will notice first are Crimson Red Rocks of Capital Butte and Thunder Mountain.
In the northeast, you can’t help but see Coffeepot Rock. There are many homes with views of Sedona looking to the east. This area is elevated from SR 89A.
Off in the northwest, you might gaze upon Chimney Rock, but be careful not to take your eyes off the road! It is easy to do with these beautiful views. It provides views that are not available from the main highway passing through Sedona business district.
Three Minutes to Shopping – Restaurants – Medical
Speaking about the Sedona business district, just one more reason this area is a favorite among residents and buyers alike is that Crimson View sub-division is close to the business district. At the bottom of the hill is the Safeway shopping center and numerous restaurants close by. You will find an Urgent Care as well as other medical facilities and professional offices within another four minutes of the intersection of Rodeo Rd and SR 89A.
Close To Hiking Trails
There are many trails right above those homes. The Stupa and trails leading to Sugarloaf Mountain are close by and easy to access. I have been up to Sugarloaf and there is an amazing view of the landscape above and below. It is not a difficult hike but will clear your head and allow you to enjoy the reason you moved here in the first place!

New Construction – Newgate Homes built a charming neighborhood in the community of Mountain Gate, Clarkdale Arizona. Besides single family homes, large townhomes were also available.
Clarkdale is located between Sedona and Jerome and only a few minutes from Old Town Cottonwood, the Verde Valley Medical Center and big box shopping.
My buyer, who was relocated to this area during the summer found this townhome and knew her children would love it. Jen is a single mom who knew she could count on me to make her move as transparent as possible during her travels back and forth from Colorado to the Cottonwood area.
This townhome was supposed to be ready back in October, but construction challenges contributed to the late date. It wasn’t until last week that the Certificate of Occupancy was delivered!
The builder found another townhome for my client to live in and moved all her furniture when her current home was available. Newgate Homes also was very generous with closing costs and other upgrades.
This was the largest Townhome in the community at 2404 SF and 5 BD with 4 Baths! It is also an end unit!
Sorry…Builder is sold out! I can find you comparable homes just contact me!
There is new construction all over the Clarkdale and Cottonwood area. If you are looking for new home construction close to Sedona, major shopping and medical center at a reasonable cost, please let me know. Home sites and new construction are selling fast. Prices will rise and long waits will develop as the coming months unfold. I can help you find a home if you don’t see results below. Many builders have not posted new homes yet on the Multiple Listing Service.

This Sedona image above was taken on the Winter Solstice this morning. Over the years I have watched and compared the shadows created by the sun as it rises in the morning.
Today I took this image of Coffeepot Rock and noticed something different that I didn’t realize before. There are no real shadows on the red rock. The sun is at it’s south-eastern most point today and the shadows are very slight.
The back wall of our home which is glass, is perpendicular to the sun on this date. Starting tomorrow the sun will appear to be moving back to the north. I was pretty sure I had an image of Coffeepot on the Summer Solstice and decided to compare. Below you can see the difference of the shadow on the rock.
In the image above taken in 2013 on the Summer Solstice, you can’t even tell that there is “spout” or beak at the very top because there is no shadow to define it!
See the images below to compare the definition of the rock.
Above (Monsoon)
The image above is a scan of an original picture taken by a relative visiting in 1962. This is a movie set – before homes ever existed in this site. The picture was pirated by a “nostalgia” post card company prior to watermarking!
Every one of these images is of the same red rock formation. I hope you enjoyed them!

During the Christmas and holiday season many local programs and events take place for our enjoyment. This is one of those events that thousands of hours of preparation went in to make it one of the most magical of the holiday season. There are actually 2 events currently going on right now at the Desert Botanical Gardens.
For one entrance fee, you can see both during the holidays. The events are the “Las Noches de las Luninarias, loosely translated into “The Night of the Lights”, and Bruce Munro is presenting “Sonoran Light”. This will be an ongoing event after the holiday season up until May 8, 2016. See more information at Desert Botanical Gardens website.
There are hundreds of miles of fiber optics laid in specific patterns that glow with different colors at different intervals. These patterns run all the say to the top of the hill. As you look at the display from below, the hill appears to be alive with color and slow dancing light that is magnificent to watch unfold.
One can only imaging how long this took to construct and how many people were needed during the creation of the exhibit.
Watch the video below to get a better idea of how beautiful the two exhibits work together to provide a night of extradinary wonderment.
We came down from Sedona, a two hour drive to see this. It was well worth the time spent to fit this in our business schedule.
It’s Time To Write Out Your Christmas List! Were you naughty or nice? Kids will enjoy writing their list to Santa.
Christmas At the Fairmont Princess!
Want to get into the Christmas Spirit?
My husband and I always go to Scottsdale-Phoenix area to get our fix of “big city” Christmas shopping – Scottsdale Fashion Square and Kierland Commons are my usual go to spots. But this year we had heard a lot about the Fairmont Princess and have never had a chance to see the wonderful lights.
There is lots to see and do at the Fairmont Princess along with a couple of different light projection shows with Christmas music!
You have to valet your car and if you do not spend $75, the valet charge is $85.
Plan to eat there or spend a total of $75. I recommend La Hacienda Restaurant!

Most of the red rock formations in Sedona take on a different look from various locations. Cathedral Rock is a special formation because it can be seen 360º from different well traveled roads. It is also one of the most recognizable rock formations in all of Sedona. Of course this angle looking down is not very recognizable because it is rarely photographed from above.
I like this picture because you can see the airport sitting on a mesa on the left side and on the right side, you can look up through Oak Creek Canyon. If the helicopter was a couple hundred feet higher, the view would extend to Humphrey’s Peak which is an extinct cone shaped volcano in the Flagstaff area.
Hiking – Beginner or Expert
Cathedral can be hiked either all the way around or can be negotiated at different levels of expertise and height. There is a 600 foot climb if you choose to do it! It has areas that allow sound to reverberate which creates a different vibrational level usually in a “saddle” location.
An Enigma
Cathedral Rock can be an enigma to those who visit it. Many believe there are opposite vortex energy forces, a male and female influence. I can’t tell you what you would feel in an area of vortex energy. Everyone has a different feeling or no feeling at all.
This view is the classic view that most people recognize. You are looking into the saddle area. This image is from Oak Creek in Red Rock Crossing.
Christmas In The Park – You will be greeted by the traditional tumbleweed snowman. The weather will probably be much cooler by then.
Hot cider and cookies will be served to all. Marvel at the vintage holiday decorations that will be visible all over the museum as the fire glows hot in the fireplace.
Make a corn husk doll just like the settlers did back in the 1800’s!
Some old-timers will be located throughout the museum telling stories of yesteryear. Local authors will be available to sign books in the Museum Gift Shop.
On a side note, the architecture of some of the original buildings besides wood structures was stone or carved stone blocks, usually with tin roofs.
There are many of these types of buildings still standing today. Even though h istory is only around 150 years old, it is rich and can be found all around us.
Old homesteads can be accessed by 4 wheel drive vehicles in remote areas. One homestead borders Seven Canyons Golf Course in Boynton Canyon and can be seen on many jeep tours.

As you can see by the first picture, these Cliff Dwellings would be easy to miss. Very few people other than aerial tours have seen these ruins. The aerial view above has been enlarged to see the entire ruins.
Sedona – Surrounded By Native American Ruins
The history of the Native Americans who left their mark on Sedona and the Verde Valley, goes deep into pre-history and most of the historical accounting leaves a lot to conjecture.
The Ancient People
The Anasazi and Sinagua people were nomadic and inhabited the entire region. We know that because there is evidence all around us. Unfortunately, the nomadic nature of the tribes generates much doubt as to what has happened. However, they went from living in pit houses clustered together in basic agricultural communities to sophisticated cliff dwelling structures with elaborate agricultural systems.
The tribes of Arizona include: Hopi, Navajo, Yavapai and Apache. All of these tribes have intermingled in our Sedona area. It should be noted that natural areas such as the Grand Canyon cut off areas of migration of the tribes north and south.
The Yavapai Nation
The interpretation of the word “Yavapai” is people of the sun. They were considered the first people of Sedona. Their history is also not well documented before the 1800s.
Hiking
But if you hike a lot, you will find evidence all around that points to the history of the area. Arrowheads, bits of broken pottery and stones used to sharpen rudimentary tools can be found in washes. Besides my experience, I have hiked with my son, who is an avid hiker. He has found untouched areas of ruins, many in fact. He leaves these sites as he finds them out of respect for past civilizations. In the picture above, I am in the middle of the pic and my son is checking to see if he found an artifact.
Rick and I have been “up close and personal” with at least seven Heritage Sites possibly more, in Northern AZ. Four of those are in the Sedona area.

Notice The Striations Above
In the future I will take some pics that show “energy” lines. Thought by some to point directly to areas of high energy intake. The weird or interesting point is that the line angle changes as you adjust your location on the rock and continue to point to the same formation even if you move hundreds of feet away… I will key in on the rock formation “Cockscomb”. That is for another time!
Volunteer – First of all, I need to explain how I became a Salvation Army volunteer. If not for my manager of our Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Sedona office, Andrew Brearley, I would not have known about this opportunity. Andrew started the Coldwell Banker First Affiliate back in the 1980’s and recently sold the franchise to Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. You would be hard pressed to find anybody that doesn’t think the world of Andrew, me included! His support and mentoring for his agents and clients is unsurpassed. Bottom line, he cares about people, which is one reason I chose to align myself with CB.
So, if it were not for Andrew asking for volunteers to help in the Salvation Army effort, I would not have thought of this organization to give my time.
I thought this was all about bell ringing and collecting donations. We are also part of the “paying it forward” effort to help people in need. Andrew gave us an orientation of what is expected of us. I started on October 30th, I have already been able to assist a few people.
How It Works
We arrange to meet with the person in need and discuss their situation to help them work through it. Many have had a difficult life circumstance and coming to us gives them that shot in the arm to move forward. We can help direct them to the services that are offered in the community of Sedona.
Areas of Support
Besides Emergency Disaster Services, the Salvation Army provides support in: Adult Rehabilitation – Veterans Affairs Services – Elderly Services – Missing Persons – Hunger Relief – Housing and Homeless Services – Christmas Assistance – Youth Camps and Recreation & Special Tutoring to Students. This is just a partial list!
Volunteer – Ring the Bell During the Holidays
I will also be “ringing the bell”. I will be participating to raise funds for people in need in our area. With the year we have had in disasters and tragedies throughout our great land, this is a small way to help contribute. Salvation Army of Sedona
Our time is valuable to us, but the right advice or support you give can be a priceless contribution to another human being or family.

Aspens – The area that these pictures were taken is the road that leads to the Snowbowl lifts. The Snowbowl parking lot is about 9000 feet. Most of the pictures you will see were taken between 8000 and 9000 feet during the first week of October. There were Aspens in different stages of color change all up and down the road. If there was a severe cold snap, most of the trees might be in the same stage of color. This is not the case this season. So depending on the actual temperature change which could vary in each area, trees are green, bright yellow, and orange. Some of the tips of the trees are more of a reddish orange. The weather was bright and sunny with temps around 58º to 60º. Please enjoy the pictures!
As always, if you need any questions answered or know of anyone who is interested in selling their Sedona home or buying a home in the Sedona area, please let me know!

Cottages At Coffeepot Are Maintained With Your Safety & Aesthetics in Mind
The Cottages At Coffeepot West Sedona is a community for those who want a lock and go lifestyle. The community has a full-time grounds keeper who maintains the front landscaping of each home. There is only one way in and one way out and it has a security gate to maintain your privacy. The Cottages are very safe. Because they sit over a mile off the main highway (89A) and are tucked in at the foot of the forest preserve, there is little traffic that is not accounted for.
Designed For Low Maintenance and Relaxation
There are 34 homes and generally 10-12 full-time residents who live in the Cottages while other residents travel to other homes based on the season. Some spend summers here and others spend their winter months in this community.
One of the unique features that residents enjoy at the Cottages is a heated swimming pool that is available from May through October. The pool area sits higher than most of the luxury town homes and has a great view of the surrounding red rocks. Straddling one of the famous rocks in Sedona. ..Coffeepot Rock, the pool is located right below. From the main street of the 89A, it looks just like the old percolator coffee pot, but as you move around the rock, it can take on another appearance of a “Standing Eagle” a name given to the rock by the Native Americans who inhabit the area.
Besides the pool, you can play a set of tennis anytime you choose at the tennis courts located right below the pool area. If you decide you want some fresh air and a nature walk, there are trails by Coffeepot that lead to Boynton Canyon to the west and Jordan Park to the east. The Seven Pools and Devil’s Kitchen are a ten minute walk right outside of the community. There are Jeep trails also that you can take to get to those features. Just make sure you have a narrow rock climbing vehicle to get you back there!
You enter the community from the top of the hill and the street lights meet the dark sky requirements. These monuments throw a soft light down onto the pavement and each townhome has one or more in front of their home.
As you can see, there is green grass where you might expect rocks and desert plants. Most of the community has grass in front of the town homes. However, the HOA is considering modernizing the landscaping in increments as needed to bring a fresh young look to the complex.
The picture to the right is looking down from Coffeepot Rock. As mentioned before, there are 34 units. Two of these units sit on two lots. Most of these luxury town homes are two and three units to a building. Each unit has some sort of courtyard in the front and a backyard garden area. Half of the community borders the forest. Many units have built in BBQs and all have a slab patio front and back. About half of the units back up to forest with a direct view of Coffeepot Rock. Those units that sit on the east side of the street have a view of Coffeepot Rock from the front of the town house.
The Cottages At Coffeepot Architecture Is Timeless & Built To Last
The architect is a prominent local resident who builds a quality home that usually remains pretty timeless. Don Woods has designed more than 200 local homes including Junipine Resort in Oak Creek Canyon to Heartline Cafe and the Sedona Racquet Club according to Sedona Monthly Magazine. This article was back in 2006. The builder is still active in the community. He is Phil Morris. Currently he has a multi-million dollar project about 3 minutes from the Cottages located right on Soldier’s Pass. Again, Phil Morris provides a quality product that a home owner can be proud of.
The Soldier’s Pass area of Sedona is one of the more pricey areas in Sedona. The average home price in Soldier Pass right now is over $1,650,000. On the other hand, The Cottages At Coffeepot sit on some prime property at the very end of Soldier’s Pass and offer a more affordable alternative choice of living in a luxury setting.
Just 4 Minutes Away….
The Soldier’s Pass Location Is 4 Minutes To Shopping & Dining
The location is far enough away from main highway traffic to relish the quiet solitude of nature. Surrounded by pine and juniper trees, your Cottage is nestled deep into nature yet you can enjoy the peace of mind knowing you are located in a gated community that looks after it’s own.
A recent study has shown that living within a mile of a Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s increases the value of your home. The Whole Foods of Sedona is right at the beginning of Soldiers Pass just 3 minutes away.
Medical & Professional Services Are Just 4 Minutes Away
A question often asked is “How far are the medical facilities located?” The intersection of Soldier’s Pass & SR 89A is the start of all the businesses located in Sedona. Besides the Whole Foods at that corner, there are two banks, restaurants and professional services which include, doctors offices, eye care, dentist and lawyer’s offices as well as other professional services. Within 5 minutes of that corner are all the services you may possibly need. If you need any specific questions answered please reach out to me through my cell phone or email.
I currently (9/23/17) have 2 buyers ready to make offers in the Cottages. Now is the time to sell!
Please give me a call if you are interested in selling.

If You Are Selling Your Sedona Home or Cottage At Coffeepot
You can find a number of sites that will provide you with an ‘estimate‘ of what your home is worth. These sites use public records and algorithms to determine an ‘estimate‘. They must also publish their ‘error rate’ as well. The human factor is left out of the equation in these estimates. I live in this community and can give you a more accurate estimate of what your home or town house will sell for. This is what I do for a living.

How Coffeepot Rock Got The Name
A lot of the rock formations in Sedona are named after objects that they look like. Cathedra Rock, Thunder Mountain, Snoopy Rock, Chimney Rock and of course, Coffeepot Rock, just to name a few more visible formations. Some of these are iconic symbols for Sedona.
In the wild west, the cowboys on the range, would use a percolating type of coffeepot over their campfire or on their camp stoves to brew coffee. Many of you may recognize the shape that has a glass knob on the lid to detect the color of the coffee as it continues to brew. The pot was made of a tin.
This type of pot was used well into the 1960’s and may still be used today in some homes or for camping.
Native Americans saw a different figure. “Standing Eagle” was the name given to the rock. Look at the top picture which is the entrance to the gated community. Think of an eagle right before the eagle starts to lift from it’s perch and the wings are the rock formations directly behind the main formation where the coffeepot spout is the eagle’s beak,
Recent Paving of Entire Community Road – August 2017
This was around 9 step process that took five days to complete. The finished surface should last many many years. The last resurfacing lasted 15 years. The first step was complete prep and patching and an additional drain put in. Then a netting was put down and a black resin placed over it. After that large gravel was set down. Another type of sealant was placed over that gravel. Then a smaller pea size gravel was laid down with another sealant placed over the smaller gravel. There was a final sealant to adhere and cure the surface. A few days later there was a lime wash to eliminate any stickiness.
Sedona AZ – Autumn – This is my favorite time of year. The weather is perfect! No air conditioning or heating is necessary. You can smell the scent of pine trees early in the morning. As you sit outside, you can enjoy your favorite morning beverage and observe the birds and animals scurrying around gathering their food, nuts and berries, for the winter. The hummingbirds are plentiful as they migrate south for the winter ahead.
I noticed this hummingbird just hovering in the middle of the yard. Ever few seconds, it was stabbing at the air. As I took a closer look, I could see a swarm of tiny almost imperceptible gnats! This hummingbird was feasting on a meal. Guess who is next on the menu? !!
